Here he is, one-year old and very special. From a Theological point of view, we see that our breath is the breath-of-life as we received it from God. The origin of the word “breath” as we read in Genesis 2:7, is found in the Hebrew word “neshamah” which means “Breath-of-God”, “Spirit-of-God”, “Mind-of-God”. Gen.2:7 - And the Lord God formed man from the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul”.

Neshamah, the breath of life, is the principle of life that is called “the Lord's lamp” in the Bible, because this moral sense is a direct gift from God and enables man to see his real condition. We see this in texts such as Prov.20:27: “The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly” and Ec.12:7: “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was and the spirit shall return unto God Who gave it”.

In John 20:22, when Jesus breathed upon the disciples, (symbolizing all of mankind) saying: “……receive ye the Holy Spirit”, we were authorized to carry out the commission in John 14:12 – “The works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do......”. God’s Breath and Spirit live in us and give us life. And God’s Breath in us can make us healthy on many existential levels.

The Latin anima means breath or soul whereas animalis, the derived adjectival form, means having breath or soul. The noun animal is derived from animalis and is used to indicate all living beings that breathe noticeably. From a Psychological and Biological point of view, anima refers to the human mind as a non-material entity that nonetheless interacts with the body via the brain and nervous system.

When we think about the “Spirit of God” we think of the Holy Spirit and we become conscious of the truth that the first man in all his purity, newly created in the Image and after the Likeness of God, as the crown of God’s creation – was filled with the Holy Spirit at the same moment he received his breath-of-life from God.

The concepts of breath, soul, spirit and mind is furthermore the logos which we find in the opening chapter of the gospel of St John – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God” and “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” – the Spirit of God from which man receives his breath-of-life.
Change is difficult for many people. Often times our whole identity is wrapped up in what we've learned as children will work for us when dealing with people, allowing us to survive, thrive and fit in. While some people have had to learn to thrive in the midst of change and learned to be adaptable by being open to new ideas and embracing change, many others have had to fight for survival and every table-scrap that came their way. Behavior is learned and it takes work to unlearn and dismantle these old beliefs.

The truth of the matter is that win-win is always possible. When you are able to see beyond the ego and recognize the abundance that is available, people, minds, and ideas come together and can create amazing changes that improve the current scenarios for many, many people. When you work with people who have this abundant and generous attitude, you are uplifted, the team soars, and amazing energy and creativity is unleashed. This is much harder to do, to sustain, and to elevate within others when you encounter individuals driven by the thought of scarcity and competition.

People like Steve Jobs are visionaries that have sought to bring about such shifts in society and in business. One thing I've learned along the way is that it is often better to take the high road. This isn't about judging others as wrong or seeing yourself as better than others. This is about recognizing your truth as to how you wish to BE in the world. Don't compromise your integrity. Don't get caught up in the competition. See the vision, see the outcome, feel the purpose and passion you're driven to offer the world, and give it freely. We all die. You can’t take anything from this life with you. So give what you have to offer the world. What is not given is lost forever.

If your goal is to truly bring about a positive change and serve others, how it is accomplished becomes less important and seeing it accomplished becomes more important. While it may be a blow to your ego when others criticize your inspiration, or someone takes the credit for something you've introduced, holding fast to the benefits for everyone will often soften the sting. You do need to pick and choose those places where you'll offer yourself, the key is to evaluate whether it is serving a common good. When you’re getting compensated for your contributions, gratitude would serve you spirit of peace. If you continually feel abused and stomped on, maybe it is time to move on to a more collaborative team, as well as a more receptive and appreciative audience.

Knowing that you are accomplishing your purpose and living your passion will be reward. In time, it will be recognized. Imposters will eventually be seen and heart & soul will always outlast the mind & ego. Along the way, through the journey that is your life and career, you will need to hold fast to the true inner qualities and nature of the brilliance that is you. Don’t allow these negative experiences to become something that undermines your value. You are not the negative experience. Often times, the negativity we experience from others, is more a reflection of them and less about who you are.

We all have different lenses, different gifts, different wiring, and different experiences. Difference is not something to be judged, it is a gift of diversity that brings the pieces of the puzzle of life together and creates a society, a solution, a technology, etc., together for the benefit of us all. Don’t doubt yourself when others cannot see the vision you see. Keep true, keep your intentions, and you will attract the right support, the right people, and the right opportunities. Lower the ego and aim high the vision.

Best wishes, Lee

Make a Difference

Lee Down is a Professional Coach, Trainer/Facilitator, Speaker, & Writer of One Man Can Human Capital Development that focuses on relationships, the key foundation to success in business and life. Cruel land of extremes……….

Sharing a bungalow with 29 RAFs, English became like a mother tongue. He met his wife during the war. An Irish girl with long, pitch-black hair and eyes that reminded him of the blue skies where he served his country. It was love at first sight and they got married while the war was still on. At first her non church-going Catholic parents merely tolerated their new son-in-law who was to be a preacher in a Protestant domination, and his staunch Afrikaner parents rebelled against the new Irish-Catholic daughter-in-law. But love conquers all, and finally the families made peace and accepted each other.

His father was a poor farmer who could not afford to send his four sons to university, but he brought them up in the ways of the Lord, and the preacher knew where to find his resources. So did his three brothers, and God provided well for them all and they were never short of anything – The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want – and the bills got paid……. month after month after month…………

While still at university, his wife gave birth to a stillborn boy, and a year later to a little girl who was sickly at first, but the angels did babysitting while the couple was busy with their required daily activities…………

His first calling was back to the rigid, callous Bushman-land with its ruthless sun and its need of sheltering shadows He worked hard and was always supported by his wife, who could by then speak Afrikaans. But time marched on and the years tinted their once dark hair a soft silvery colour. The moon shines with gentle compassion on those who tasted life to the fullest. A few more callings took him through the Karoo, Namibia and back to where he is now serving the Lord on the High Veld.

Saturday afternoons allow for time alone in his study while preparing for the Sunday sermons. The windows are open and he takes pleasure in the variety of bird songs that come to him in a hundred different harmonies. Songs written by the Good Lord Himself……… His eyes pan over the private collection of over four thousand books. They have become his best friends, his intimate friends. The grand old Emboya desk with matching swivel chair was a birthday present from his wife. Not long now, and she will bring their 4 o’clock coffee with homemade chocolate-chip cookies on a neatly decorated tray. Saturday afternoon ritual of two gray-winged doves…..
Together they dream of a cute two-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage by the sea, with a spacious open plan kitchen-living room area. Only their favorite furniture will be send down, and only one car will be kept. The Stinkwood lounge suite that was a grand investment some 30 years ago, and grandma’s bone China tea-set which she inherited. Her own Royal Albert set, and as many of his leather-bound books as they can fit in……. The West coast of so many of their dreams where they will walk long summer walks during early evenings. Where they will have time to listen to Mozart’s piano concertos and the operas of Pucinni. Where she will have enough time to paint again, and he will write poetry and a long promised autobiography.

It is a technique in which we use our imagination to create what we desire in life. William Blake called the human imagination the “Bosom of God”. Creative visualization is a very dramatic tool, given to us by God. There is nothing new or weird about it. We already use it on a regular and daily basis, whether we are aware of it or not. Everything in life starts as an idea in somebody's mind, a visual image which is then translated into reality. Albert Einstein said “imagination is more important than knowledge”.

We are able to re-arrange our whole world with our thoughts, our perceptions, and our images. Visualization is based on the subconscious mind's inability to distinguish between reality and daydreaming. In his famous equation e=mc², Einstein proved that energy and mass are equal and interchangeable. In dealing with the subconscious mind, thought is the energy and the outcome of that thought is the mass.

We are all energy, and everything around us is energy, energy that vibrates at different rates. The density of mass determines this rate at which it vibrates. For instance, a thought is a very light form of energy and can therefore change very quickly and easily, whereas a rock is a very dense form of energy that does not change easily. And yet, the fine, light energy of water eventually changes a rock.

We are all one with everything else in the entire universe, but at the same time, we are not one with everything else – the great paradox of life. God created us as very unique individuals and there have never been anyone else like the authentic-you, and there will never be anyone else like the authentic-you, but we are also energy like everything else around us, and therefore at the same time that we exist on our unique levels, we are also one with it all, one with the universe that serves us and feeds us.

Dr Deepak Chopra explains the above with his analogy of two candles. Imagine two candles standing in front of you on a table. It is night-time and you light them. To you they appear separate and independent, but the light they cast fills the whole room with photons. The space between them, is bridged by light and therefore there is no real separation between them.

Now carry one candle outside and hold it up against the night sky, the background of stars, billions of light years away from you. On the quantum level each star is connected to your candle because the vast space between them contains waves of energy that bind them. And as you look at the candle and the far-away stars, photons of light from both the stars and the candle land on your retina where they trigger flashes of electro-chemical discharge. It belongs to a different vibratory frequency from light, YET they are part of the same electro-magnetic field. You are thus another candle or star whose concentration of matter and energy is just an outcropping of the infinite field that surrounds and supports you.

We should not be afraid to dream. We need to believe in our dreams. The visualization of a project is done as though it has already happened, and the rest is left to the subconscious mind to do what it does best, to transform thoughts into reality.<span style="font-size: 12pt; This prevents us from speeding up the development of our psychosomatic health, that is, health of the body that stems from health of the mind.
Years ago, I was in a car accident and apart from a broken nose I was without the proverbial scratch. However, many years later it caught up with me in the form of aggressive neck pain. MRI scans showed severe and advanced degenerative disc disease in the cervical spine. Discectomies and fusions were done at levels C4-C5-C6 during the first neurosugery, and another discectomy and fusion at level C6-C7 during a follow-up surgery. Severe discomfort and chronic pain accompanied by a lack of energy, were the predictions for my life ahead. I was advised to adjust my daily activities to suit my neck pathology and symptoms. I was to take adequate periods of bed rest during the day, which would help in the battle against this very aggressive pain.

I rejected the life that was portrayed to me and started my study on breath. I was already a deep breather because of many years' training as a singer and I have practised self-hypnosis in a fight against stage fright. All I needed was additional knowledge on the physical and emotional benefits of deep breathing and deep relaxation. And so my very fulfilling and stimulating exploration on meditation, which eventually led to my life in mysticism, was activated. It was the genesis of my deeper spiritual life. Little did I know that I was involving myself in a major investigation that would take ten years before I would be ready to even think about sharing it with somebody. This was the nativity of Prime Breathing as I present it at seminar-workshops today.

Pain does not have to overwhelm you and it does not have to rule your life. You only need to get to the crucial recognition that you still have choices and that you can make your decisions according to the choices you have. It is all about decision-making.

In general, we think of two archetypes of pain. Acute pain and chronic pain. Chronic pain can be divided into chronic malignant pain and chronic non-malignant pain. The latter is probably the most difficult to be tolerated by the patient and to be acted on by the doctor. Acute pain is easier to identify as it is of a short period of time only, and is usually relieved when medication is taken. Chronic pain on the other hand, is of a duration longer than three months and there is often no clear cause for the pain.

Although pain is physically perceived, the patient also experiences it on a mental- and emotional level. He becomes anxious and depressed and his life becomes a fearful excursion. On good days when he has less pain, he remains anxious and fears the return of the pain. He is concerned about a future with even more pain. His self-confidence breaks down and he becomes hopeless and helpless. He becomes more and more turned inward and his professional and social relationships suffer as a result of it all. Pain cannot be shared, a reality that transforms him into a typical loner.

Pain is not so much associated with the spine or the periphery of the nervous system, but rather with the brain itself. It appears that pain has something to do with the imbalance arising from a pattern of nerve impulses. This pattern arises from the fact that there are three pathways through the spine to the brain and that it is likely that pain is created by all three[1].

We understand what pain is not, but we need to understand a lot more about what pain really is………

The report “How to control Chronic pain” gives you the alternative to pain-killers and is a tool to successful self-healing.

It gives an overview of what happens in the brain that makes it such a highly successful tool for self-healing, and discusses the use of music as an aid in the healing processes. The breathing technique works just as fine by itself and can be used in any place at any time.

Visit www.sazone.biz/bookshop, click on the “Bookshop” icon and have a look at “How to control chronic pain”…
   That’s a promise!
Here is a real-life story of me and my Rottweiler Helga…………( I will publish a pix of her by next weekend God willing). In the meantime, I want to share something that happened in our lives a short while ago……..:

I lived opposite a high school in Johannesburg and got permission from the authorities to walk my Rottweiler, Helga, on their grounds. And so we walked early in the mornings, when the earth was still nippy with the smell of dew and moist on acres of the greenest pastures still fluttering through your body. No walk is quite as breathtaking and cheering as an early morning walk in God's vineyard.
We befriended the trees and the birds, and I made Helga promise not to kill anything. She understood, I am certain of it, as she never tried to even chase one of the few hundred birds that live on the school-grounds. They stroll and totter on the fields and I talk to them.
Of the many trees on the school-grounds, one stood out as particularly old. It was barren, but incredibly beautiful and eminently tall. It's withered and bleak branches stretched beggarly out to the heavens. But it's purpose was not over yet. An abundance of birds lived in the protective arms, high up against the skies. During winter and during summer it was an extremely favorable bird city, filled with chattering and chirping. You could sit in the shade of the exorbitant thick trunk and be overwhelmed by the variety of songs.....
Then, one fateful and bleak summer morning when Helga and I walked down in the direction of the tree, we saw one of the most senseless tragedies that I ever came across. A devastation that pierced and numbed the heart. The bird's tree had been felled and only about two meters of the once forceful trunk was left. Scattered all around the stump were chopped pieces of trunk and splintered bark. Hundreds of homeless and mourning birds in gruesome and macabre shock, sat around destroyed nests.
I will never forget that morning for as long as I breathe. I sat next to the birds and wept with them. Helga sniffed around and looked at me with a thousand questions in her eyes. And I, part of the crown of creation, had no answer for the destructive and insensitive nature of my fellow beings....

From my book The Road to Damascus.
